Hello! I'm flying back from Switzerland today after an incredible few days at Montreux Jazz Festival, but more on that later... Let's do a quick recap of some highlights from the past week. I love this interview by Helen Brown with Soft Cell's Marc Almond, and Annabel Nugent's chat with Glass Animals frontman Dave Bayley about the band's new album, I Love You So F***ing Much, which is out now! It sounds like Ellie Muir had a blast at Mad Cool festival in Madrid, returning from Spain's answer to Coachella with a heady dose of nostalgia. Elsewhere, we had Laura Barton weighing in on the Tenacious D / Donald Trump controversy, and Michael Hann exploring why a corner of England is such a utopia for guitar bands. And hopefully you caught Kate Solomon's Saturday Interview with Camila Cabello, who spoke about her about her divisive stylistic U-turn, working with Drake, and her so-called "beef" with Charli XCX. You can read the interview in full here. |

| Adele has announced she will take a "big break" from music after her run of upcoming shows.
The "Set Fire to the Rain" singer, 36, who has spent the past two years playing a weekend residency in Las Vegas, will begin a 10-date string of gigs in Munich, Germany, in August.
After the residency, Adele has said she wants some time away from the music industry to rest and pursue other creative projects.
Speaking to the German broadcaster ZDF, Adele said: "My tank is quite empty at the minute. I don't have any plans for new music at all." Full story. |

| Spotlight on... Liang Lawrence |
| Q. Hello! Tell me about yourself |
| A. I'm Liang, I'm a Chinese-British artist and I've spent most of my life moving around, being hauntingly honest on the internet through my songwriting and wishing I had two cats and a dog. My favourite thing in life is probably a cold sea swim and my best mate Elly. |
| Q. What are the inspirations and influences behind your music? |
| A. My inspirations growing up were always bands The Eagles, Steely Dan, Genesis and Oasis just to name a few and now, alongside the classics I love listening to beabadoobee, Clairo, The Japanese House, Spacey Jane. |
| Q. What do you have lined up for 2024? |
| A. Loads of new music which is super exciting! My new EP What's Dead And Gone is out on 2 August, and then hopefully a few more surprise bits will come your way. Other than that, I'm really excited to be playing loads more shows and just getting out there with my band. My debut headline is coming up in September and I'm incredibly scared but also so excited! | |
